Cozy Beer and Wine Owner IDs Burglar
Norton man arrested.
On Dec. 6, 11:47 p.m., Norton Police were dispatched to Cozy Beer and Wine, 411 Old Colony Road for a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, officers observed the front glass door to be smashed from the inside.
Officers conducted a check of the building and located an open air duct in the rear of the building. It appeared that the suspect had gained entry to the store from the vent then left by breaking the door. Rehoboth Police were contacted and a K9 responded to the area. A check of the area by officers and the K9 located no suspects.
Upon arrival of the owner of the business, Amrish Patel, video footage from store surveillance cameras were reviewed. Patel was able to identify the suspect as a customer of the store whom he is familiar with.
After further investigation, officers went to 32 N. Worcester St., Norton and spoke with Roby Roberts, 35. Roberts was placed under arrest for breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, over $250 of malicious destruction of property and larceny of less than $250 in alcohol.
During the booking process, it was also determined that Roberts, had an outstanding default warrant from the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office in New Hampshire.
Roberts was held overnight at the Norton Police and brought to Attleboro District court Tuesday morning for arraignment.
