Branco Nabs Capital One Academic All-America Honors
Norton resident earns honor for second year in a row.
Southern New Hampshire University senior Jordan Branco was named Wednesday to the Capital One Academic All-America men's soccer team.
Branco was a Second Team selection.
For the second straight year, he was honored as a Second Team selection. He becomes the second two-time Academic All-American in SNHU history, as former Penmen women’s lacrosse standout Julie Kraus was honored in 2008 and 2009.
Southern New Hampshire has now had a total of 13 Capital One Academic All-Americans. The Capital One Academic All-America and All-District teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Branco is a Communications major and a standout forward for the SNHU men’s soccer team. A Northeast-10 Second Team All-Conference selection, Branco finished 2012 as the second-leading scorer on the Penmen despite missing three games, totaling six goals and a team-high nine assists for 21 points to date this season. Over his three seasons in a Penmen uniform, Branco totaled 17 goals and 18 assists for 52 points and was a two-time NE-10 All-Conference selection.
Both SNHU soccer teams captured their respective Northeast-10 tournament championships in 2012 and appeared in the NCAA Tournament. The Penmen men finished 19-4 and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the third time in four seasons, while the women’s squad posted a 13-5-4 mark and made its third NCAA appearance in program history.
