All Voting to Take Place at Norton High

Voting precincts changed to reflect population changes.

The Board of Selectman recently voted to change to a single polling location for all voting in the Town of Norton.

Precincts 3, 4 and 5, which previously voted at the Yelle School, will now vote in the gymnasium at Norton High School with Precincts 1 and 2. These changes are effective Jan. 1, 2012. The Presidential Primary is the next election and is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws chapter 54, section 6, the Town of Norton has changed voting precincts to reflect population changes as calculated by the most recent federal census. These changes are reflective of the new maps drawn by the State and are also effective Jan. 1, 2012.  Below is a list of streets that have changes:

  • Bay Road
  • Charlotte Avenue
  • East Main Street
  • Gary Road
  • Godfrey Drive
  • Leonard Street
  • Maplewood Avenue
  • Mulberry Brook Drive
  • Plain Street
  • River Road
  • Susan Circle
  • Taunton Avenue
  • West Main Street

Attached is a detailed list of streets and addresses that have changes to their voting precinct. Also attached is a full listing of streets in the Town of Norton and their corresponding Precincts.

For elections or votes that will result in a large turnout of voters, Norton would be wise to use more of the schools. If the L.G. Nourse, and Solmonese schools were open to those voters who's precinct cover those areas it would alleviate the heavy congestion of traffic in the center of town and make it easier for voters to get to as well. It might cost a little more $$ but would make things much easier on voters and commuters as well.
