51 Norton High Seniors to Receive Free Tuition
School Committee names John and Abigail Scholar recipients.
The School Committee released the names of 51 Norton High School seniors who were named as John and Abigail scholars Monday night.
The scholarship entitles the recipients to free tuition at any University of Massachusetts campus, or any state or community college. The scholarship is awarded to students for up to eight semesters of enrollment, which must occur within six years of high school graduation.
To qualify for the scholarship, a student must earn an advanced score in math or English in the 10th grade MCAS test and at least a proficient score in the second subject. The student must also have a combined MCAS score that ranks in the top 25 percent of the district.
“This is a nice accomplishment for these students,” said Committee chairman Andrew Mackie. “We are very proud of them.”
