1. High near 82, low around 56
There will be patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, it will be sunny, with a high near 82. Southwest wind will be 3 to 8 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 56. South wind will be around 6 mph.
2. Library events
Music Together will host a program 10:30 a.m. in the Community Room. Drop in for this free mixed-age demo class with local instructor Cheryl Unger. Lastly, the Knot Just Knitting group will meet 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Community Room. Join this group of those who want to share and/or compare knitting and crocheting projects. Beginner to expert participants are welcome. The group also knits/crochets for charities.
3. Stroke Support Group
Sturdy Memorial Hospital will host a Stroke Support Group 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Clinical Education Center. This group is free and open to the public. For more information, call Nursing Administration at 508-236-7166.
4. Hunter Mahan gives skills clinic at Deutsche Bank Championship
PGA TOUR standout Hunter Mahan treated Sun Life Financial employees and clients to an interactive golf skills clinic at TPC Boston as part of the Deutsche Bank Championship, the second stop on the PGA TOUR Playoffs. The guests practiced their chip-shots on the 12th green while Mahan, who is sponsored by Sun Life Financial, offered tips and one-on-one instruction before retreating to the Sky Chalet for a special reception. Sun Life announced its partnership with Mahan, the company's first professional golf sponsorship, in February 2011. As part of the multi-year agreement, the golfer wears a hat prominently featuring Sun Life's logo during all competitive events. Sun Life also has the right to use Mahan’s name and likeness globally, as well as access to personal appearances, a golf clinic and hospitality benefits.
5. Norton Basketball Association registration open
The Norton Basketball Association will be holding their recreation basketball registrations online through Sept. 30. This is available to all Norton residents in grades 1 through 12. The Instructional Program begins Dec. 1 and runs for nine weeks with a cost of $60. Third through eighth graders will have regularly scheduled practices along with an eight games regular season followed by playoffs. Practices will begin in November and a champion will be crowned in February. Cost of the competitive rec program is $100. The High School League is available for ninth through 12th graders, excluding varsity players, and will consist of an eight game regular season and playoffs. Cost for this program is $80.
