NORTON HIGH SCHOOL JOINS 100 ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS NEW ENGLAND TO RUN A BOOK DRIVE IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY

Consumers Clean Out Clutter and Non-Profit Organizations Make Extra Money

Norton, MA - Got Books Inc. of Wilmington, MA, the leading used book collection and reuse company in New England announced that 100 of its non-profit partners are running book collection drives in January and February.  The Norton High School located at 66 West Main St in Norton, joins non profit organizations across New England from Ogunquit ME to Woonsocket RI, and Brockton MA to Nashua NH to raise money by having their community donate their unwanted books, DVDs, CDs and records.

Like Norton High School , each of the 100 locations is the host for a Got Books, Inc. purple and yellow “Donate Books” collection container that operates 24/7/365 as a fundraising program for the host.  During January and February Got Books, Inc. of Wilmington is giving each participant a 10% bonus to their fundraising revenue.  The non-profit benefits twice:

1.                   the book drive brings the host more books and more money paid from Got Books for those books,

2.                   as a participant in the book drive program,  Got Books will bonus each participant a 10% above their earned revenue.

“This is a win, win, win for everybody.  The consumer wins because they have a place to drop off books that will be repurposed, the non-profit container host wins because they raise extra money for their organization, and Got Books wins because more books come into the reuse stream”, comments Bob Ticehurst founder and president of Got Books, Inc.  “We have nearly 500 containers with locations in every state in New England and more being placed each week.  We’ve distributed $1.4 million back to those non-profits in easy fundraising money.  With the success of this program, we’ll make this an annual drive.”

Below is a complete list of the participating communities. Some communities have more than one container location.  In addition to these 100 locations, people all over New England are encouraged to clean out their gently used books by donating them to the non-profits who host the nearly 500 Got Books collection locations.  For a complete list of all locations go to GotBooks.com/Bookdrive where the local search tool will direct you to the location nearest you.  Got Books will also pick up a minimum of two boxes of used books, DVDs, CDs, and more for FREE from your home.

Got Books, Inc. Background

Founded in 2000, Got Books has grown from a home-based business to today’s 69,000 square foot book processing warehouse. Got Books provides hundreds of nonprofit groups with an easy fundraising program: book donation containers are placed throughout New England at schools, town halls, retail parking lots and a variety of other public locations.  People donate books and more to the non-profit by placing items in the container. Got Books pays the container hosts when the donated books are collected. The Company has paid over $1.4 million to local non-profit groups since 2007 and has saved millions of books from landfills.

Philanthropic Programs for Education

Got Books operates two major philanthropic programs to give away books.  The “Got Books Great Book Giveaway” is designed for elementary schools in greater Boston and southern New Hampshire.  This program distributes books in schools K-5. Any teacher can apply for a book grant for their entire school. More than 15,000 books have been donated locally in the last year. Go to GotBooks.com

-Books for Troops program sends a free box of books to local residents serving our military overseas.  Tens of thousands of hand selected books have been sent to our military.  Go to BooksforTroops.com to register.
