Camp Maplewood Announces May 1st Open House
Maplewood Country Day Camp & Enrichment Center has recently announced their Open House on May 1st, 2011 from 11am-3pm, to reintroduce the surrounding communities to the new and improved Maplewood. This free event will be both indoor and outdoor activities, including: rocks climbing, boating, face painting and other fun events for the kids.
Parents will also have an opportunity to win free weeks of camp, as well as free children’s classes.
Although Maplewood has been in business since 1965, the camp has evolved from what it was when Sue Reardon and Lee Pinstein’s parents ran it in the past. A new reading program led by experienced teachers and a 9th week academic enrichment program has put an emphasis on education that, when mixed with the fun atmosphere that has always existed at Maplewood, makes for an unrivaled and unique camp experience. “Since I was a kid, we’ve always been great at providing the fun” said Sue Reardon, co-director of Maplewood Day Camp. “And over the years our programming has evolved to meet the changing needs of families. So we’re implementing programs that keep these kids sharp for the start of school, teach them valuable life lessons about social responsibility, teamwork, creativity, critical thinking and oral communication, while having a blast the whole time!”
In addition to the newly revamped academic programs, Maplewood offers the same activities that have been entertaining and helping children grow since 1965. According to Lee Pinstein, Co-Director “our biggest goal at Maplewood is to help these kids grow. Whether it be creatively, socially, or intellectually, we constantly strive to help these kids reach their maximum potential.”
By keeping Maplewood as fun as it has ever been, while offering new and exciting academic opportunities to campers, it’s clear that Sue and Lee are leading the way for summer camps to focus on the overall development of our youth.
Registration for the 9 week Day Camp and Enrichment Center is still open with limited slots remaining for campers aged pre-school through entering 9th grade. The open house will be held at Maplewood Day Camp, 150 Foundry St, South Easton, MA on May 1st, 2011 from 11am-3pm.
